Recent ActivityThe Cartwright School District provides K-8 physical education for all children. The physical education curriculum is based on the Arizona State Standards for Physical Education and Health. Elementary physical education instruction is offered twice a week, and on an exploratory wheel at the middle school level.
Students participate in a variety of physical activities to provide a foundation for good health and lifetime fitness. Teamwork and cooperative skills are emphasized. The middle school grades participate in a variety of team and individual sports, lifetime sports and fitness activities. After school athletic programs provide an opportunity for higher level competition among students. Atkinson, Desert Sands, Estrella and Castro Middle Schools participate in the Valley Athletic Conference, and Borman Cartwright, Downs and Harris K-8's participate in the Cartwright Athletic League.
